Frequently asked questions

What fees does Amazon take on an FBA sale in 2026?

Three per-unit fees: a referral fee of 15% for most categories (8% electronics, 6% personal computers, with a $0.30 minimum in most categories), an FBA fulfillment fee set by size tier and weight, and a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on the fulfillment fee since April 17, 2026. On a $25 item in the small-standard 6–8 oz tier that is $3.75 + $3.33 + $0.12 — about $7.20 before your own costs.

Is the 3.5% fuel surcharge real?

Yes. Effective April 17, 2026, Amazon added a temporary 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on all US FBA fulfillment fees. It applies to the fulfillment-fee line only — not to referral, storage, placement or defect fees — and stacks on top of the January 15, 2026 rates.

Why isn't storage on the receipt?

Storage is charged monthly per cubic foot, not per sale — $0.78 per cubic foot for standard-size inventory from January to September and $2.40 from October to December. It depends on how long your units sit, so it can't be itemized on a single sale. Budget it separately.

Which referral fee applies to my product?

Most categories pay 15%. Electronics pay 8%, personal computers 6%, and Amazon device accessories pay 45%. We model the first three; the category-level rate is set by the ASIN's category on Seller Central.

Are these numbers current?

The fulfillment tiers are the non-apparel 2026 schedule effective January 15, 2026; the surcharge is effective April 17, 2026. Amazon adjusts some tiers annually and the fuel surcharge is described as temporary — always confirm against the fee schedule in Seller Central before pricing.

Does this work for UK, Canadian and Australian sellers?

Yes — switch the marketplace to UK, CA or AU. The UK uses £ fulfilment tiers with a 1.5% fuel surcharge and 2% Digital Services fee plus tiered clothing referral fees; Canada uses C$ tiers with a C$0.80 low-price discount under C$14; Australia uses A$ tiers with automatic under-A$13 rates.
